I intend to undermine the couple-love celebration of V-Day as Coleridge undermines the couple-love of marriage in “Rime of the Ancient Mariner” by referring to these lines from “Rime” which somehow, laced with sarcasm, come out entirely un-ironic to my mind. This also acts as a preface to my public concrete valentine which I’ll post later today and which you should not imagine indicates a “religious turn” in my work, but is rather part of an ongoing study and celebration of Love of all kinds.
That said, Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you.
did you receive my recently mailed envelope? it was brown.
Bring it on (the public concrete valentine)!
I agree, Valentine’s should not be totally oriented to couples-love but also celebrate fun-love, animal-love (here in SF there are tours of the zoo re: animal mating habits), crush-love, goof-love, dream-love etc.
they should have a holiday dedicated to one-night-stands.
